Holes, holes... and more holes

Holes, holes... and more holes

Aeration is one of the single best things that you can do for your lawn. We recommend that you aerate once or twice a year, or at the very least once every 3-5 years. Spring and fall is the time of year that you want to give us a call and book an aeration.

After patiently watching the grass grow, this could be the results for your lawn after just an aeration, some water, and one mow.

Seed and fertilize after aeration

Seeding and fertilizing after aeration is a great way to get the lawn that you’ve always wanted. It helps young seedlings get optimal seed to soil contact while providing softer soil to grow in. This creates the perfect environment for deep roots.

Aerator Plugs

Aerator Plugs

Water penetration can make or break any lawn. Here are some plugs gathered from random areas in the lawn with the greatest water saturation going from left to right. Hard compacted soil like the plugs to the right can stop proper root growth and roots are everything in a plant.

Leaving plugs in the lawn after aerating is great for returning nutrients and organic matter to the soil.

Japanese Maple Pruning

Japanese Maple Pruning

This Japanese Maple had been neglected for a long time and was trimmed with hedge trimmers as if it were a typical shrub, so it needed some major pruning. Cutting off dead, diseased, and crossing branches promotes healthy growth and vigor. Never prune more than one third of your branches in a single year. Allow for light and air to reach the inside of your tree for a healthy tree.

Adding topsoil to your lawn can be quite beneficial, especially if you live on a lot that was built on poor, shallow soil.
